ACiiTC prepare Submission to the Aged Care Royal Commission

Following the highly attended Sydney Forum on 7 Feb 2019, the Aged Care Industry Information Council (ACiiTC) committees held their second National Forum of the ACiiTC National Home Care Group and CIO Forum on Friday 22 March 2019 in Brisbane.


The full-day event focused on the ACiiTC submission to the Aged Care Royal Commission collaborating with the National Home Care Group and CIO Forum Members. The membership who range from Industry Chief Information Officers (CIO), Board Executives, Researchers and Service Providers shared their views on advocacy role ACiiTC should take in the Community Care Sector.


Newly appointed ACiiTC Independent Chair, Dr George Margelis welcomed attendee to the forum and provided key insight from his 30+ year career in technology.


Other speakers included National Home Care Group Committee Chair, Anne Livingstone; Dr Kate Barnett OAM (writing the submission on behalf of ACiiTC); CIO Forum Chair, Gavin Tomlins; ITAC Committee Chair, Rod Young; and Older Persons’ Advocacy Network (OPAN) CEO, Craig Gear.
OPAN CEO provided an overview of OPAN’s aims and their work to date on the rights-based issues associated with video surveillance as part of residential or community aged care.


The ACiiTC submission to the Aged Care Royal Commission will showcase where the sector needs to go and how to get there by exploring challenges and opportunities. The ACiiTC submission will make reference to:

• Co-design
• Standards
Digital Inclusion
• Funding

The draft submission will be presented to the ACiiTC Board in the coming weeks and will be available on request via email to secretariat@aciitc.com.au
